UConn and Marshall have met just once before, in the 2015 St. Petersburg Bowl where the Thundering Herd posted a 16-10 win at Tropicana Field.
Under first year head coach Jim Mora, the Huskies battled their way to a 6-6 record in 2022, winning five of their last seven and finishing the season 5-1 at home in Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field. UConn’s six wins was the most for the program since 2015 when they last played in a bowl game. The Huskies became bowl eligible with their upset win at home over No. 19 nationally ranked Liberty, 36-33.
Mora will be coaching in his fifth postseason bowl game after leading UCLA to the postseason in each of his first four seasons on the sidelines for the Bruins. Mora’s UCLA teams were 2-2 in bowl games.
The Huskies are 3-3 in their previous six bowl appearances.
